Abstract

Introduction: The long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis) has been used as a model animal (test animal) related to biotechnology for human welfare. One of the biotechnology developments using this animal model is the development of vaccines. This study aims to provide a mini-review associated with the use of Macaca fascicularis as an animal model for vaccine development during 2011-2021. Methodology: The mini-review research method consisted of literature study, title identification, abstract screening, full-text selection, and mini-review. Result: The results of the mini-review review, the various types of vaccines, and the benefits arising from Macaca fascicularis as a model animal were very diverse, with the full use of Macaca fascicularis (∑n = 321) individuals. Conclusion: During 2020-2021, there was a negative correlation between the years of research on Macaca fascicularis individuals used as animal models for vaccine development.
